Transportation  

Rethymno city:

  • Travel between Crete and Athens by plane takes about 45 minutes.
  • There are two airlines and several flights a day
    (Olympic Airways – Tel: 0030 28310 22257, 24333 and Aegean Airlines (in Chania) – Tel: 0030 28210 63366).
  • There is no airport in Rethymno, so visitors must come through Chania (60 km) or Heraklio (80 km).
  • One can also travel to Rethymno from Piraeus by ferryboat.
  • Departures are scheduled every other day from and to Piraeus by Cretan Lines

  • The public bus service (KTEL) provides a link between most cities and villages in Crete.
